Le- Gro Barns is right on the English/Welsh border between Shropshire and Powys. It is situated on the A495 aprox 1.2 miles from the village of Llansantffraid heading in the direction of Oswestry.
We are accessed off the main road via a private drive about 0.25 miles long. The access for Le-Gro Barns is adjacent to the access to Bryn Tanat Hall. If coming from Llansantffraid it is the access on the right just before Bryn Tanat Hall. If coming from Oswestry direction it is the turning on the left immediately after BrynTanat Hall. Once you have taken the turning follow the lane all the way down to the Barns. We are the only property down the bottom of the lane.
The village of Llansantffraid is about 1.2 miles away and has a small grocery shop at the top of the village that provides hand made freshly baked bread daily. There is a garage with a well stocked shop. There is also the Spar and Post Office which again you can buy your groceries from. There are two pubs in the village, both 'The Sun' and 'The Lion Hotel'. There is also an Indian restaurant and takeaway as well as a fish and chip shop. In the next villages of Four Crosses and Llanymynech there are Chinese takeaways. Llansantffraid also has “The Station” which is remnant from the Llanfyllin line that has been converted into a stylish restaurant.
Oswestry has bigger supermarkets including Sainsbury’s and an M&S food hall.
The medieval town of Shrewsbury is aprox 30 minutes drive away and well worth a visit with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. It also has a castle along with beautiful architecture. It is the birth place of Charles Darwin and has the river Severn running through it.
The beautiful historic city of Chester is only a slightly longer journey and a must for anyone who enjoys architecture, history and shopping.
